On most projects, the schedule is only as good as the slowest item on the material list. Project-specific procurement support means one team takes responsibility for sourcing, checking and delivering everything the project needs.
What it usually covers
- Metals: structural steel sections, plates, sheets, pipes, copper and aluminium
- Electrical items: power and control cables, switchgear, panels, earthing and cable tray materials
- Electronic components and instruments: components, sensors, data loggers and meters
- Construction equipment: machinery supply or hire, site equipment and tools
- Mechanical parts: bearings, pumps, valves, fasteners and spares
Five things that keep materials from holding up the site
- Check the specification first. Compare every line against the drawings and BOQ before ordering.
- Order long-lead items early. Transformers, special cables and imported instruments set the critical path.
- Inspect before dispatch. Finding a wrong grade at the supplier costs days; finding it on site costs weeks.
- Pack for the route. Cable drums, steel and electronics each need different handling and protection.
- Schedule deliveries to the work. Material that arrives too early clutters the site; too late stops it.
Imports and exports
When items come from overseas, procurement includes shipping and customs coordination. We work with partner forwarders and brokers, and our logistics department handles the inland legs.
